Ian Milne White Peak Marathon and Half News - bridge damaged

Message from Matlock AC Chairman, Andy Mellor -

Entrants to the Ian Milne White Peak Marathon and Half Marathon may be aware that a lorry has collided with a bridge supporting the High Peak Trail near Longcliffe.  The bridge is severely damaged and the trail is currently closed.  This happened on 17th April and it will probably take a few days for the local authorities to assess the situation fully.

Matlock Athletic Club will be liaising with the local authorities so that we are fully informed regarding any closures on the trail, and diversions that might be put in place.  At this stage, with several weeks to go until the Ian Milne White Peak Marathon and Half, we would hope that the worst case scenario will be a small diversion if the bridge is unsafe to use.  We will provide further detail as soon as we can, and anticipate that this will be following the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.
