County XC Results 09/01/2016

Well you know you’re in for a hard race when Derby Runner have completely sold out of 15mm spikes before 11.30am. And so it proved as Shipley Park offered up it’s usual mid-winter mudbath, with probably even tougher conditions on certain stretches of the course when compared to the 2014 event at this venue. Not many sprint finishes in evidence as the uphill finish dragged any remaining energy out of the legs, and everyone who ran in those conditions deserved a finishing medal.

And we bagged a fair few of those, including a clean sweep of the honours in the MV60 category. How often does that happen? Here’s who won the gongs:

Teams
U13 Girls (Michaela Dick, Ellie Wilson, Lizzie Webster) – Silver
U15 Girls (Elsbeth Grant, Ava Holden, Lilly Phillips) – Silver
MV 40+ (Rupert Holden, Andy Lessiter, Karl Webster, Simon Croft) - Bronze

Individual
U11 Girls Olivia Allen – Bronze
U13 Girls Michaela Dick – Bronze
U15 Girls Elsbeth Grant – Bronze
U17 Men Joe Hallas - Silver

A special mention at this point to all the other MAC juniors who ran with great spirit. Congratulations on your performances, especially if you received a County selection envelope.

LV50 Nicky Dick – Gold
LV 60 Jan Forrester – Gold (should we have ever doubted it?)
MV60 John Hurley – Gold, Anthony Marchington – Silver, Mick Moorhouse – Bronze

Another shout out to all who ran in the senior & vet’s races, with a county call-up for Colin for finishing 8th in a top class senior mens race. And did the guests at the Arborlow B&B get woken early this morning by the sound of clinking medals? All 3 colours made it back there.

Another excellent day for the club – lots of medals, lots of runners, lot’s of great performances, lots of supporters and lots to discuss again. Next stop Long Eaton on the 24th January to push those BDL medal places. Full results available in the results tab

Thanks for the round up Jim - excellent representation and inspirational displays from the young to the not so young. Thanks also to those organising the entries, the tent and all the other bits- you know who you are!
