Fellow MAC Members and supporters - Message from Chairman, Andy Mellor -
This has been quite a week, and there are many weeks of uncertainty and disruption ahead of us.Firstly, and most importantly, I hope that you avoid infection, or if you catch it that it is mild and you recover quickly.   As a club, we are restricted in what we can physically do together. But with the marvels of social media, we can still be there for each other.  I would encourage any suggestions on how we can maintain our motivation and “run together”, even if we are physically apart. We have already had a fantastic Virtual Time Trial challenge from Lottie Riddle and many of you have already been scampering around Matlock Park and posting your mile challenge on Strava. If you’re not already part of the MAC Strava group, on the WhatsApp group, or part of our Facebook group, please join in, so that we can share our runs, photos, challenges and banter.  The Sole Mates have been asking their members to post a selfie from their runs, and this is encouraging people to still get out into the fresh air, and share their photos.
So Competition time! As we can't use our MAC vests for racing for a while let's get them out for a photo contest. The most imaginative snap taken during a run/walk/ride etc wins a prize! So post your photos on the MAC Members' FB page.   If you are not on Facebook, you can email them to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
And on a serious note, some of us are very lucky and the only impact to date is needing to wash our hands and hunt down toilet roll. For others, this is having a devastating impact on their work and families. If anything good is going to come out of this frankly crap situation, please let it bring out the real strength of our fantastic club – our strength of character and love for each other.  If anyone is struggling, please shout out if you are comfortable doing so, or message me or any of the committee if you need help or a shoulder to cry on. And if there is anything that you think you can do to help others, please shout out.
2020 might be a bit of a lean year for PBs, medals and trophies – but as a club, this might be our finest year.
Take care, wash your hands, be kind, and look out for each other. And let’s have those suggestions and challenges to keep active
