How about start at the ARC as normal and then up to Thorn Tree then White Lion @ Starkholmes and then down the path opposite (head torches required) where it brings you out by cable cars and onto The Fish Pond in Matlock Bath then back to MoCa Bar along A6 and then up to Sycamour for 20:00. All these pubs have a great choice of real ale.

The ironic thing is I won't be able to make it this year as it clashes with my works Xmas party :(

Have a good one and feel free to add, delete or ignore the route above. :)

Just a further thought. If the distance between The Fishpond and the MoCo Bar is too long without a refuelling stop then in between is the re-opened (2nd Dec) County & Station opposite Matlock Bath railway station on A6.

The Shiny Brewing Co. Ltd (Microbrewery based in Derby)are now running it and so it would be a shame not to pop in and support a local brewer B)

You don't need a head torch to run the track from the White Lion to Matlock Bath. There are street lights (a few), ansd sometimes they are lit.

A further thought, there are 2 pubs between the Thorn Tree and the White Lion, The Red Lion and the Duke William. At present Mel at the Duke has lit up the whole of his pub and it is well worth looking at (though you won't miss it in Andy's original plan). There is also the Wellington at the end of Wellington Street.

You don't have to run far between pubs in Matlock !!!!! :silly:

MAC Annual Christmas Pub Run

Well its that time of year again when the festive spirit creeps upon us :) Thursday 18th December is the Date set for the Matlock Athletic Club Annual Christmas Pub Run.

Andy Whittaker has created a route (although its a closely guarded secret and he wont let anyone know what it is until the night) but you can rest assured that it will take in plenty of refreshment stops along the way. (there were certainly plenty of suggestions looking back through this thread - Thanks for those Andy and Ian)

Although there is no particular Theme for this years Run, it is still a Fancy Dress of your choice!! (on that note, there will be some Elvis Costumes available at the Arc on a first come - first served basis).

The Run will be from the ARC so please arrive for 6:00pm to set off on the Run for 6:15pm

The Run will finish at the Final Pub Stop at the Sycamore where there will be some Food waiting for you - served from 9:00 / 9:15pm

So as we can get an idea of numbers to cater for, could you please " Click" on the "Contacts Tab" at the top of the page and select The "Pub Run Contact" and let Andy know if you are coming.

Have a great run. ;)
