Black Rocks Fell Race 2018 Race Director Report

Report from Race Director, Dennis Belbin

Wow!! What an absolutely amazing running club we have. So England were in the semi-finals of the World Cup, the 1st time in 28 years, on the same day as the Black Rocks fell race; people said that we should postpone the race, or worst of all cancel it! But yet we had 12 marshals out on the course with other club members on timing, registration and bar duties.

Let’s not forget Pete Wilmot who ran back marker realising he would miss all the game (before it went to extra time!)…. The race went ahead, and was seamless in its planning, organisation, running and results.

So well done to the 72 people who turned up to run, but much more of a thank you to the 19 club members and their children who helped out on the day, if that was setting the course up, marshalling, timing, taking photos or running the IT system – you all made this happen and the feedback from the runners was amazingly positive. Some people had their 1st fell run tonight – I think they will be back for more (at least until the real weather returns!) Thank you.
