Christmas parkruns

Summary of MAC parkrun antics over the festive weekend:

Christmas Eve

In comparison to last week, with a temperature of circa 3 degrees it was positively warm at Shipley Country parkrun this morning where 247 hardy souls turned out for part one of this special parkrun weekend!
Simon Fisher came 7th in 21.06 with Sarah Witham 3rd lady in 23.08 and 22nd overall. Jon Curtis finished in 25.44, 51st, whilst Dennis Holmes was first snowman in 99th place 28.43 and Lisa Walton first snow princess in 129th 31.43.

Another MAC first was recorded at Alvaston where Chris Gillott was first Elf in 20.59, 26th place.

The MAC parkrun group covered 6 courses across the county and beyond this morning with Roy Austin, claiming the tourist award by going to Bramshall Road in Staffordshire to claim his prime 29 event number in 25.43 and 25th position. Kate Ruffell was in East Cheshire at Lyme Park, possibly the hilliest parkrun around taking 41st position in a great time on that course of 26.42. Not so far from her was Luke Beresford at Buxton Pavilion Gardens where he positively ambled around in 28.32 for 129th place. Closer to home Jon Tyson made it all the way to Poolsbrook for a steady jog of 24.20 and 49th place.

Finally at the MAC “home” Monsal Trail parkrun this morning the proper athletes gathered. Greg Hopkinson in 2nd place and 17.08 was quickest MAC of the week, followed in 3rd position 18.20 by Patrick Wright. Not so far back in the more senior age category Andy Mellor had a steady run for 21st place (also first elf) and 21.10. Megan Elliot was 1st lady in 22.01, 26th overall with Jo Lloyd next MAC lady in 26.57, 75th place. Family Walton were led home by Thomas in 33.36 for 125th with mum Sarah Walton still being very sensible coming back from injury in 38.26 for 154th position.

Christmas Day update from Les Thurston

What better way to start Christmas Day than with my traditional visit to the Penrose parkrun, part of family holiday in Cornwall. Thanks to the wonderful volunteers who make this possible! 155 enthusiasts enjoyed a warm breezy morning and I did 26:45 for 1st V70.
Winners – Jacob Gardner (u/a) 18:31, Alicia Regan (SWRR) 18:58
