Everyone loves a good park run and no stranger to Park Runs is our MAC Dennis Holmes – he’s been venturing North to the Lake District this weekend for a lovely scenic route.
Here’s Dennis’s report:
Possibly the most scenic parkrun in England. Whinlatter Forest near Keswick is also probably the hilliest parkrun in England with something like 700 ft in the 5k loop. I was warned to add 3 minutes to my usual parkrun time to allow for the incline but actually finished over 4 minutes slower at just over 28 mins! Looking at the male course record of 17.35 held by a young man named Billy Cartwright, I think he must have run a different route.
Overall winner was Steve Hebblethwaite of Keswick AC in 19:36 and first lady Sarah McCormack in 19:56.
