On a drizzly Saturday afternoon 5 MAC teams competed in the Derwent River Relays – 4 Laps, 4 Runners, 5.5KM each, 1 Hill, No sunshine.
Despite the miserable weather it was a lovely winding route alongside the river, past the fields of maize, finishing with a quick up and down over the hill above the shining lights of Belper.
However, some would say there was a sting in the tail, with at least 2 MAC runners being savagely attacked by a swarm of wasps on route. I am sure everyone is wishing Megan and
John Thorpe a swift recovery from their ordeal.
MAC ended day as overall winners – with ‘The Tricky Trees’ of myself, David Robertson, Ben Meakin and Luke Beresford storming home in 1:23:28.
MAC were also Male V40 winners thanks to some strong running by John Thorpe, Gary Jones, Ian Watson and Darren Spibey with a winning time of 1:32:41
Well done to everyone who took part, including the Juniors in the Fun Run.
