Bob Foreman reports:
Last night I nipped over to Bugsworth Basin for the Eccles Pike Fell Race AS 3.2 miles 900 feet.
A warm and muggy evening for the 152 runners on an out and back run to the summit over a bit of tarmac, metal road bridge over the A6, playing fields but also some lovely off road running and a couple of short steep climbs and descents.
The race was won by William Longden of Buxton AC in 22.11. First lady was Harriet Wingfield of Dark Peak, 13th o/a in 25.29.
I was 21st o/a in 27.37 and 1st M60.
A good short race well organised. I got stung by a bee on my chest on the ascent and by the finish felt a bit woozy so I legged it down the canal to Tesco to get some anti histamine.
It did the trick and I managed to get back for the presentation and a pint of Storm Brewing’s Desert Storm 4.2% in the local club!
