Vicki Eyers reports
Feels a little bit like cheating in a running club group, but Team Eyers had a trip to Uppingham today for the Endorphin sprint triathlon/junior aquathlon.
A very friendly event with a lovely atmosphere, for anyone wanting to dip their toe into multisport events; there is an adult aquathlon (swim/run) or aquabike (swim/bike) too, with all swimming done in a very plush pool.
The bike course is a bit lumpy, but that’s probably not something any of you care about, so onto the run….
The run is all grass, but given it is held at Uppingham school (for those of you unfamiliar, imagine Hogwarts), it is as flat as a pancake and beautifully manicured so more akin to track than trail.
Both of us definitely made the most of this (and our strength in running) to come in with 2nd fastest run times in our respective races.
Overall, this put Heidi (who has been working really hard on her swimming) in 4th for her age group. Slightly disappointed to miss out on a podium spot but with a huge improvement on last year so feeling very content.
I managed to nip into 3rd female overall for a lovely wooden trophy, so a good day out all round and would definitely recommend.
Also a shout out to Izzy who we also bumped into and also ran like the wind!
