John Thorpe reports:
Yesterday saw the Hardy Mac Men travel up to Ambleside to race the next counter in the English Fell Running Championship.
Greeted by blue sky and blazing sunshine it made for a warm race!!
The race starts at Rydal Hall and heads through 5 checkpoints, Great Rigg, Fairfield Summit 873m, Dove Crag and Gate Low Sweden Bridge before the final trail run back to Rydal Hall to the finish line. Taking in 10 miles and over 3000ft it made for a tough run.
Billy Cartwright stormed around claiming 2nd place closely followed by Dan Haworth in 4th.
Not to be outdone Mick Moorhouse claimed another V70 victory after having several falls and coming back bleeding with a black eye. Joe Oldfield, Max Wainwright, Toby Gill, Richard Bradbury, John Thorpe and Matt Govan completed the team positions.
On another note Geoff Cooper forfeited his race to assist a seriously injured runner and waited for Mountain Rescue to arrive before completing his race.
