
Grindleford Gallop
The 2026 Grindleford Gallop race took place on Saturday 14th March and the weather was glorious ☀️ The race is 21 miles/34km with 3000ft/850m ascent. The course takes in some beautiful Peak District countryside and passes through the villages of Grindleford, Eyam, Great Longstone, Edensor and Baslow, as well as the Chatsworth estate and Baslow and Frogatt edges.
After feedback from previous years, the organisers decided to trial optional flexible early start times in 2026 for anyone expecting to take over 4 hours.
There were 7 MACs, 3 started in the mass start at 10am and 4 opted for the early start. The first MAC back was Dougie Briggs in 3 hours 24 minutes finishing in 55th place, followed by Damon Harrison and Tom Withers.
First MAC back in the early start was Rachel Perry finishing 71st in 4 hours 23 minutes, followed by Becky Cummins, Abigail Waterfall and Jon Burch.
The overall winner was Luke Wilkinson from Dark Peak Fell Runners in 2 hours 38 mins. There were 203 finishers in the mass start and 302 finishers in the early start.
