Dan Ashcroft reports:
Marathons are never easy, but when they are combined with a lap format, it adds another dimension to the mentality that is required not to call it a day before completing the distance.
On Saturday 11th November, the Linacre Infini Trial Race took place which is a 6 hour timed event where runners attempt to complete as many 5km laps as possible. The course follows the woodland paths, trails and boardwalks around the three Linacre Reservoirs, with each lap giving 100 metres / 330 feet of climbing.
As can be seen from the pictures taken by John Thorpe, it really was a stunning morning for the event. Because it was a sunny morning, there was also plenty of opportunities to get tripped up by dogs and children on the course.
Two MACs took on the challenge, Alaina Bond going for the full 6 hours and Dan Ashcroft ticking off marathon 27.
According to Alaina, after 5 laps she decided that she would have time to complete 10 if she got a shift on! And that is exactly what she did, awesome effort.
Results are not yet available but the first person did 11 laps and Alaina was the second lady to complete 10 laps.
