Linacre Infini

Linacre Infini Ultra Report

On Saturday morning I made the short journey to Linacre reservoir to take on the Infini Linacre Race.

This was a timed event with runners given 6 hours to complete as many 5KM laps of the three reservoirs.

Normally on a Saturday at 9am I’m getting ready to run one 5K at a local Parkrun. I knew today might be slightly more challenging than this.

The route was slightly undulating but in perfect dry conditions, and surrounded by the lovely autumn colours, the first few laps rolled by and I actually started enjoying it. On my fourth lap Marshall Megan turned up as she took over scanning duties at the end of each lap, with Ivy the dog barking encouragement from the side as well.

A bit of company on laps 7-9 kept me going as I passed the marathon mark and got into the final couple of hours of the race. I managed to grit my teeth, pull on my big boy running shorts and finished in 5 hours 43 minutes having completed 13 laps and just over 42 miles. There was a suggestion I could squeeze in a final sub 18 minute 5K, at which point I politely told them to **** Off!!

A great value well organized event which I would highly recommend.
