Dennis Holmes reports
Todays parkrun news a bit later than usual.
21 Members ran, walked or volunteered at 9 different parkruns today. Top performance of the day was at the local Monsal Trail where Dan Howarth lowered Harry Holmes’s first finishers time from last week to a pretty rapid 15.34 and 84.26% age grading. Any chance that Billy Cartwright can have a go next week?
Karl Webster was second MAC in at Monsal in 21st place and 21.47 followed in by a right posse of Paul Clark, Meg, Greg and Rob Scriven in 29th, 30th, 31st, 35th positions. Less than a minute behind this lot in 23.30 Simon Brister finished in 42nd place with a 79.29% age grading! Final MAC runner in 30.37 and 124th position was the almost ever present Sarah Walton. As we all know, these events don’t happen without volunteers and Matlock AC can be proud that at this local event we always have strong representation with Andy Run Directing and Sarah Funnel Managing todays event.
Down at Derby at Alvaston parkrun, Tinofara Chiku and Steve Gill both set new PB’s finishing in 19th and 51st position with times of 19.47 and 22.36.
At the other end of Derbyshire, Buxton Pavillion Gardens, Simon Fisher just missed out on another first finisher coming in second place in 19.06 whilst Louise Rowley ran a great time on this undulating course of 22.13 for 21st and 3rd lady.
Just over the border in South Yorkshire Roy and Chris took on the hilly Barnsley Parkrun finishing in 36th and 55th positions and 25.08 & 27.14.
Not far away also in Yorkshire at Encliffe parkrun Lisa Walton discovered perhaps the most popular parkrun in Sheffield where she recorded 34.01 and 584th place.
Moving further afield now Luke Beresford tried the new Leicestershire parkrun, Sence Valley Forest Park parkrun and found it to his liking, jogging around in 18.59 for yet another first finisher and 71.19%
Going further South to Northamptonshire (I think?), Jay Bird collected an I for his alphabet challenge at Irchester Country parkrun where saving his legs for the afternoons North Midland Cross Country he ran a respectable 25.05 for 41st place.
Even further South in Greenwich, London, Dennis Holmes burnt more fossil fuels but escaped ULEZ and Super ULEZ charges in running Victoria Docks parkrun in 24.44, 91st place.
Last but not least at completely the other end of the country at Pollok parkrun, Glasgow, Gavin Elliott recorded 23.34 and 57th position.
VAR edit – Oliver Lloyd swapped his drinking shoes for his running shoes (presumably) for a rare Saturday morning appearance too…spurred on with the promise of a post-parkrun brunch, some of my housemates dragged me to the Newcastle Town moor Parkrun…31st – 19:55.
