Dennis Holmes reports
Yesterday saw 16 MAC’s complete parkruns at 8 different venues across the UK.
Locally Simon Brister ran a fantastic 23.56 at the deceptively undulating Brierley Forest to score an excellent 77.86% age grading.
Still on her tour of Scotland, Kate Ruffell did even better at Eglinton parkrun in Ayrshire where a 23.23 and 3rd lady finish achieved an outstanding 80.68% age grading. Also up in Scotland for the umpteenth time Gavin Elliott returned to Erskine Waterfront parkrun to record a new course PB of 22.03 and a 3rd place finish.
Of critical importance to Lisa Walton, Epworth Equestrian parkrun in Lincolnshire was holding only its 8th event yesterday which meant that completing this increased her Wilson index massively to an impressive (amongst us parkrun nerds) to 30!
Lisa was joined at Epworth by 4 other MAC athletes quickest of which on the day was Rob Scriven with an impressive 22.55 for 15th whilst Sarah Witham also showed a turn of speed over tricky grassland surface to finish in 24.07 for 22nd position and 2nd lady.
One of our other speedy MAC couples Simon and Louise went to Long Eaton parkrun, which is renowned for fast times, and duly delivered athletic performances. Simon recorded 18.20 for 11th and a 71.91% age grading whilst Louise ran an impressive 21.54 for 71st place and an age grading of 71.84%. Also at Long Eaton, Chris Gillott ran 19.53 and Lucy Taylor in 20.15
Another MAC couple who can be speedy seemed to be having a rest day yesterday. Team Greg and Meg ambled around Monsal Trail in just over 25 minutes with Greg being the gent as ever letting his better half stroll in 3 seconds ahead of him in 25.10. Finally returning to proper athletes and great running,
Christine Howard was sole MAC at Poolsbrook parkrun running an impressive 22.24 for 26th overall and 2nd lady (only 3 seconds behind 1st lady!) and recorded an age grading of 76.71% thereby joining our elite group of 5 MAC parkrunners achieving greater than 70% age grade scores this week.
