Manchester Half Marathon

Would it be 3rd time lucky or not?
On Sunday I headed over to Manchester for the half marathon to attempt to get a sub 1:30 for the 3rd time of trying.
The weather was perfect blue skies around 6 degrees and no wind.
This year I made sure I was at the front of my wave so that I wasn’t having to work my way through people at the start, which did cost me a bit of time last year.
As we set off I soon got settled into my pace
My plan was to get some time in the bag at the beginning so I targeted 4min/km. I made it to the halfway point at Sale still feeling good and still keeping at the same pace. The crowds did really give me a boost specially when they are shouting “Go on big fella” 😂.
I got to 18km still going strong but the next 2.5km I found a bit boring as there weren’t many people around cheering you on
So the voices in my head started telling me to stop, that my legs had had enough but I managed to keep on going.
The last half km the crowds appeared again to give me that last push on to the home straight.
I crossed the line over the moon, it was 3rd time lucky!
I finished in 1:24:10
The winner was
Jack Rowe
Aldershot Farnham & District AC
1:02:13
First Lady
Lucy Reid
Tonbridge AC
1:09:13
