Mansfield 10k

On Sunday 14th September a baker’s dozen of MACs headed east to Mansfield for the imaginatively titled Mansfield 10k.

The route started in the town centre and threaded around the streets with plenty of opportunities for the crowds to cheer on the runners. The weather was thankfully dry and the crowds surprisingly plentiful and vocal in their support. Perfect running conditions and a great atmosphere. Fortunate because the route was 5k and we got to enjoy it twice.

Two stand out performances were from Jose Rivas Gutiérrez finishing 7th overall in an impressive 35:24, and Sally Owen snapped up first FV55 in 53:17.

Several other MACs also recorded ‘first loser’ in a number of age categories: New MAC Faye Thompson in the FV35 (43:21) and Becky Curtis-Hall in the FV40 (46:08) –a chip timing mishap meant that Becky was missed off the official results, but a steward’s enquiry concluded that she didn’t need to run it again to get her time. For the chaps, Andy Mellor in MV50 (40:50).

Great runs from all other MACs bagging Road Championship points along the way including Tom Palfreyman (44:52), Andrew ‘not another PB’ Donoher (46:00), Steve Gill (46:18), Gary Jones (46:44), Lisa Jones (47:04), Rob ‘one knee’ Curtis (48:09), Jill ‘yep another PB’ Neville (50:48), and Roy Austin (51:25). In fact PBs also from Faye and Lisa suggest that this must have been a perfect course and anyone that didn’t PB wasn’t trying hard enough 😉

There were 829 finishers in total, and a great event organised by Runthrough. Full results available at https://results.runthrough.co.uk/results.aspx?CId=16487&RId=5514
