Yes I find that the more connected I am to mother nature the better I feel physically, mentally and spiritually. This helps inspire me on all levels. In a world where we are becoming further and further away from our primitive roots in the new technology age, getting an overdose of Mother Nature from time to time can do wonders and bring lots of inspiration.

I Like to drop into Scarthin bookshop café in Cromford for a good old homity pie or homemade soup and a piece of cake
I do enjoy a pint of real ale on a summers evening after a local peak district fell race
I have wanted to sign for Matlock for quite a few years now but it wasn’t an easy decision with trying to stay loyal to Ripley, but I feel the time is right now and I am often running or walking around the white peak area and for me Matlock is the centre hub of this area. It has also been inspiring to watch Matlock AC progress and develop into a great club over the last few years.

I suppose I am quite proud of some of my sporting achievements and travel adventures but mostly I am just grateful to be here right now with air in my lungs, fit and healthy. Health is Wealth.
The best traits in someone have to be kindness, humbleness, optimism and not to take life too seriously. ‘Laughter is good like medicine’. The worst traits are the ego and greed.
I missed Parkrun
I don’t think so, it was an awakening for most people, realising that what is most important in life are just the simple things. Family, Friends, Health etc.
I enjoy most sports, but walking/hiking in the Peak District/Lake District is a favourite. I am currently trying to complete the Wainwright Fells with just 26 left to do. I like to follow Derby County unfortunately. I also have a strong interest in natural health and healing.
I have been fortunate to travel to New Zealand, where I spent a year on a working holiday in 2009 and it is such a beautiful part of the world. Also Nepal and the Himalayas are very close to my heart. Nowadays the Peak District is just as fulfilling as anywhere; the diversity of the landscape and Derbyshire Dales I feel very lucky to live in a great part of the world.
Off road without a doubt; I love races like the Grizzly, Belper Rover, Yorkshire 3 Peaks, Snowdon Mountain Race, but the biggest race of the year has to be MAC’s own Beetroot Race, on Boxing Day each year. I’m still looking for more short cuts J
In my first ever marathon ‘The Snowdonia Marathon 2012’ in fancy dress ‘Luigi’, I underestimated the difficulty of the race and didn’t really train. 21 miles in I totally bonked, throwing up on the grass verge of the road, slumped in a state, where I bumped into a fellow runner also expressing great distress on the grass verge, that runner happened to be yes you guessed it ‘Dennis Holmes’ we exchanged a ‘hello’ and my brother ‘Mario’ came back to rescue me and drag me to the finish.
In terms of running, people like Zola Bud, Ron Hill, Joss Naylor, Ian Holmes and MAC’s Mick Moorhouse inspire me. Others I admire are Ben Fogle, Novac Djokovic, John Muir, Nando Parrado and William Wordsworth.

Keep doing what you are doing. I am looking forward to being part of the Club.
