Milton Keynes Marathon 2025
Bletchley Park is famed for its codebreakers who helped shape the outcome of World War II. Fittingly, on Bank Holiday Monday 5 May 2025, whilst celebrations started for VE Day 80, just up the road in nearby Milton Keynes, a number of runners had gathered for the city’s marathon, half marathon and relays.
According to AI, the Milton Keynes Marathon course is known for its scenic beauty, featuring a blend of tree-lined city boulevards, quaint village charm, and picturesque scenery. Runners pass through five original villages with thatched cottages and ancient churches, and through the Open University Campus. The course utilizes the Milton Keynes Redway system, incorporating woodlands, lakesides, parks, and landscaped areas, offering a “fast, different and fun” running experience. The finish line is located inside Stadium MK. Indeed, it is a decent course with a few ups and downs, but nothing too challenging.
Running for Matlock AC was Dan Ashcroft who took advantage of the perfect running conditions, finishing in 3:46:44 for 661st place out of 1,934 runners.
There is also a decent selection of treats at the end which included a sports cooling towel, medal, gel and massage balm. The kind lady handing out the goods took pity on Dan and promptly filled his race bag with 6 packs of chocolate brioche buns. The packet of crisps and can of Erdinger Alkoholfrei did not make it to the car.
