North Midland Bulwell..
Today was the last race of the North Midlands XC league and it was freezing!! The snow hadn’t melted so conditions under foot weren’t great. It made every step much more of an effort.
The adults were completely outnumbered by the juniors.
After a good warm up we had our 4 U11 girls Erin, Olivia , Heidi and Emily. They were awesome and pushed each other along. Erin had been poorly all week but still showed up to race with her team. Well done Erin.
Our Matlock girls came 5th over all against mainly older girls ….so we’ll look forward to what the next few years might bring.
In the U11 boys we just had Max this time. He ran so well and at the finish wasn’t worried about the race but just how cold his arms had been! Massive well done Max, great running. 💪
Next up were Maddy in the U13 and then Elspeth in the U15s , these girls both show up with massive smiles every time in races that a lot of girls don’t want to attempt. They both ran brilliantly in their races and should be really proud.
Alfie was up next, no nervous, just excited about the flatter course. It definitely suited him too, he had a really strong finish. Well done Alfie.
The juniors have honestly shown such guts coming to these events and running against really tough competition in some really hard conditions.
Also the parents need a massive thanks for spending their Saturdays freezing cold supporting nervous kids. Massive well done and thanks to the parents for getting the kids there. 👏👏
If other kids are interested in the future please let us know, all MAC juniors are capable and we’re really proud to see them running. It would be great to get some full junior teams.
Our adults had a slightly smaller turnout with only Kerri, Jill and me for the women’s race and just Andrew for the men’s.
Me , Kerri and Jill were slightly less competitive than the kids and mainly wanted to get it done with. We all found the deep snow really tough. The kids had made it look too easy! We all had good races though and happy to finished all 4 races with a full MAC ladies team in each. Really proud to have full ladies teams in the club 💪💪
Last to run was the Awesome Andrew who always sets off at the back ,never quite believing just how good he is! He had a brilliant race and made it look effortless!
