parkrun report Saturday 25th May 2024
22 MACS participated at 13 parkruns with several new venues being added to those previously run by the group. Les Thurston made another short trip to Ashbourne finishing 84th in 29.30. Simon Fisher bagged 2nd place at Brierley with a 18.18 whilst James Briggs put in an appearance for the sky blues at Cannon Park finishing in 20.41 for 29th. Running at possibly the toughest event of the weekend Darren Spibey came 5th in 24.15 at Hafan Pwllheli which is run along the beach in Wales. Dennis Holmes claimed his first victory this year over Jay Bird at Fletcher Moss parkrun by a clear 18 seconds! At another new venue Laura Bassett ran a great time of 22.39 to finish 2nd lady and 26th overall. Up in the lakes Megan Elliott ran a great time of 21.35 at Keswick which whilst on an old railway line is far from flat on the way out. No fewer than 8 MACS ran, volunteered or did both at our local Monsal Trail parkrun. Some excellent running by all resulted in no fewer than 6 athletes achieving age grading scores above 70% with Simon Brister yet again breaking the 80% barrier at an amazing 82.81%. Ben Meakin was sole MAC at Poolsbrook finishing 4th in 19.23. Lisa Walton went alphabet hunting in Wiltshire at Quakers Walk parkrun whilst fellow parkrun tourer Roy Austin ran at Salcey Forest finishing in a respectable 24.26 and 27th position. Penultimate runner of the weekend Gav Elliott was back at Shipley Country where he finished in 17th position and 23.50 and finally Chris Rouse had a steady jog around Wyre Forest parkrun completing his 5k comfortably in 33.05 for 130th position.
