Parkrun news – Saturday 14th December 2024
19 MACS running or volunteering or both at 8 venues this weekend with most people sensibly staying local at this busy time of year. Lisa Walton doubled up to get both run and volunteer credits at Alvaston where she has made the car park her own! Gav Elliot stayed relatively local at Ashbourne for a steady paced run in 25.54 for 35th place. John Birch was also near to his home albeit quite a drive for us at Blickling parkrun where he ran a respectable 26.11 for 72 place. Mini touristing at one of the more challenging parkrun’s Lyme Park near Stockport, Beccy and Rob took on the hill that greets you from the very start with some athletic like times and performances. Beccy ran 25.08 finishing 3rd lady and 16th overall whilst Rob was in 31st place with a time of 27.54. Nearby and also on a fairly hilly course at Macclesfield, Jay Bird led Dennis Holmes home finishing in 24.59 and 63rd place whilst Dennis had to be content with 26.19 and 83rd position.
After a thorough review of the results and feedback from the person who was previously reported to have led the MAC contingent home at Monsal Trail, it is now established that there were in fact 5 MAC’s running and in 12th position overall and setting his new PB with a fantastic time of 20.28 was Arthur Collis!! who was therefore First MAC back.
Karl Webster recorded an impressive 20.54 for 18th position and an age grading of 73.52% proving that there is life in the old warhorse yet. The ageless Andy Mellor being as selfless as ever volunteered as token sorter possibly saving himself to get injured on another day. Shipley Country park was the go to venue this weekend with 4 MAC’s choosing to take on this undulating course. First home MAC was Andrew Watson in a particularly quick 22.59 for 10th place. Roy Austin, Chris Rouse and Sarah Austin all had more gentle paced runs saving themselves for future challenges over Christmas I’m sure. Last but definitely not least Kate Ruffell made a return to parkrun at Thonock Lane parkrun near Gainsborough where where she had a very impressive run on the grass recording a time of 24.36 for 3rd lady finisher and 14th overall with a super age grading of 77.78%
Well run everyone
