Parkrun news -Saturday 12 October 2024
18 runners at 8 venues starting off with a quartet at Ashbourne Recreation ground where Simon Fisher was first finisher in 19.05. Andrew Watson was 13th in 22.45 and Louise Rowley in 18th and 2nd lady in 23.43. Gav Elliott completed the quartet in 26.07 and 33rd spot. Bestwood Village parkrun, famous locally for its challenging (Hilly) one lap course, saw three MAC’s returning with Roy Austin running an impressive time of 24.17 for 10th place. Chris Rouse and Sarah Austin treated the hills with much more respect finishing together in just over 33 minutes. Two other MACs having a sedate morning jog were Cherry Moger and Luke Beresford at Cusworth Hall finishing in 36.45 and 36.46 respectively. The second quartet of the morning were to be found at Monsal Trail where Paul Clark was first MAC back in 22.29 and 20th position with David Howarth running 25.02 for 41st. David Davidson’s 27.16 and 70th place scored the highest MAC age grading of the week with 72.13% with Ann Armistead’s 33.22 earning her the equally fantastic 71.38%! Greg and Meg were also out for strolls in the park up at Pavilion Gardens Buxton. Greg ran a 20.39 whilst Megan completed the 5k in 27.06. Lisa Walton did not find the 3 lap hilly course at Sheffield Castle to her liking recording 36.38 for 77 position but more importantly not driving in any bus lanes (as far as we know). The tourist of the week award goes to Dennis Holmes who made the journey to South Manchester where he ran his best time in 2 years of 23.40 for 74th position albeit on a PB flat 2 lap course. Last but not least, Jay Bird was saving his legs for the afternoons North Midlands XC race, which actually makes his 24.55 and 37th place at Watermead Country Park quite reasonable.
