Parkrun News

Parkrun News Saturday 8th February 2025
Apologies for the delay but better late than never, they say.
23 runners and volunteers across 10 events is now a pretty typical turnout at parkrun for Matlock AC. Having the choice between Black Rocks and Monsal Trail on the doorstep certainly makes it easy for us to get a quick 5k in every Saturday and the new event at Vicar Water Country Park near Mansfield is also possibly less than 30 minutes drive if you prefer circular and more undulating routes, rather than the out and back variety offered by both Black Rocks and Monsal Trail.
The quickest time of the day was provided by Oscar Szabo with 19.55 at Llanishen Park in Cardiff earning him 7th place. The top age grading was 73.37% achieved by Ann Armistead at Monsal Trail where she consistently beats the 70% plus level which the author of this report only has past memories of.
Finally, the all important parkrun tourism award for the week is shared yet again by Dennis Holmes and Lisa Walton with their carbon burning trip to Gdansk in Poland for that all important letter “Z”.
Zamek w Malborku parkrun is a perfectly flat course alongside the bank of the Nogat River that also has the spectacular sights of the largest brick built castle in the world alongside it and well worth a visit. Gdansk itself is a surprisingly beautiful city with great bars and restaurants to enjoy. Hungarian low cost carrier Wizz Air fly direct from Leeds Bradford airport to Gdansk in just 2 hours with fares as low as £14.99 each way!.
Happy parkrunning, where to next week?
