Early parkrun report Saturday 8 March 2025
Only 16 MAC’s so far found to have run or volunteered at 8 venues this weekend. Beccy and Rob were taking it steady at Beeston whilst Roy and Sarah perhaps put in a little bit more effort at Birchall Playing Fields. Black Rocks remains the most supported venue with 5 MAC runners this weekend. Greg led us home with a steady (for him) 22.15 whilst Laura Bassett set her new course PB with a fab 22.39. Andrew Watson was only a further 9 seconds behind to grab 41st place. Martin Lea made a long overdue return to parkrun and managed a very respectable time of 23.06 in his new Vet 60-64 category, almost gaining a 70% age grading at his first attempt. Les Thurston also had a great run finishing in 28.36 and taking the first Vet 75-79 category. Still in Cyprus at Happy Valley, Luke Beresford had another good run finishing 2nd in 18.09 with Jay Bird in 18th place with his 24.41. Sarah Witham was off alphabet hunting at Irchester Country parkrun running an excellent 24.10 for 4th lady and 33rd overall but more importantly now just 3 letters short of her first alphabet! Paul Clark was sole runner at Monsal Trail whilst Nick Gant was our sole volunteer this weekend with a nice bit of Funnel Managing. At the penultimate venue of Sherwood Pines parkrun in glorious Nottinghamshire, David Howarth was pleased to find this single lap gem of a course to his liking and produced a 24.56 for 59th position and a 67.25% age grading.
Finally, parkrun nerds and uber tourists Dennis and Lisa, having planned to run Yamba parkrun 100km South of Brisbane, Queensland Australia, were inconvenienced by Tropical Cyclone Alfred ending up some 600km North of Brisbane instead but were still able to save the day by running at Yeppoon parkrun in North Queensland where the 7am parkrun start helps to keep the temperature to a runnable (just) 28 degrees albeit with a 100% humidity. Definitely a great venue to visit but not for a good time!
Apologies if I have missed you.
