parkrun News Saturday 2nd August 2025
24 runners at 8 different venues with another large turnout at Black Rocks parkrun plus several new faces joining MAC recently gives fresh impetus to the 5k blue riband event of running.
Old parkrun hands, Beccy and Rob were semi “touristing” and perhaps tempo running too at Beacon parkrun with finish times of 25.34 and 26.19 respectively.
Oscar Bridge recorded back to back first finisher at Black Rocks with another great run on Saturday recording 17.59 and a 75.07% age grading. Oliver Jones in the JM11-14 category also had a great run with a finishing time of 22.38 in 34th place whilst mum Lisa running 23.10 was not far behind. The other half of family Jones, Emily and Gary, crossed the line in identical times of 24.25 which for Emily in the JW10 category scores an amazing 74.20% age grading.
New members Kerri Hutton, Jill Neville and Vicki Cook all had fantastic runs finishing within 1 minute of each other followed closely by Sally Owen.. Father and daughter duo Steve and Elle Goodall completed the MAC turn out at sedate pace of just under the 28 minute mark.
Up at Sheffield Concord, Roy and Sarah Austin were putting the effort in with Roy finishing in a time of 24.22 for 28th place and Sarah 30.30 for 109th.
Proper touristing, down at the Eden Project in Cornwall, Vicki and Heidi Eyers must have thought they would be sole MACS when recording times of 27.12 and 27.14 however it would appear that pure coincidence meant that Gav Elliott was also doing a spot of touristing down in the far South West and was also at the Eden Project parkrun.
Staying close to home Sarah Witham ran another cracking time at Poolsbrook finishing in 23.04 for 37th position. Malcolm Betts also stayed local with the short trip to Rother Valley where he finished in 31.02 for 327th place.
Finally, off alphabet hunting at Zegerplas parkrun in Alphen a den Rijn in The Netherlands, Dennis Holmes and Lisa Walton took advantage of the pancake flat course typical of The Netherlands to run 24.18 and 30.10 respectively.
Late Edit : Well run Nicky Dick at Rutland Water parkrun with a very speedy time of 24.36!
