Parkrun News

Parkrun news Saturday 28 September 2024
Apologies that there is no table of results this week but I am currently living 11 days out of the Ryanair under the seat bag which does not leave room for laptop & charger. Matlock AC has had another good week for spreading our parkrun footprint with at least 2 new venues within the 14 different events that our 24 athletes participated in.
In alphabetical order of venues Beccy restored the normal order of things at Alvaston parkrun finishing ahead of Rob by 10 seconds in a time of 22.16 for 63rd place with Rob taking 71st in 22.26, another great time.
At Ashbourne Recreation ground parkrun, Andrew Watson trotted out another super time of 23.16 for 21st position at this less than flat venue.
Adding another venue to our Matlock parkrun group, Luke Beresford made the short trip to Beacon parkrun in Lichfield and took the first finisher title in a speedy 17.07.
Johnie two puds or more formally John Birch made his weekly trip to Blickling parkrun running a steady 27 minutes for 74th place.
Much more local at Brierley Forest parkrun Simon Fisher took 3rd spot in 19.27 with Laura Bassett running an excellent 22.53 for 4th lady and 33rd overall whilst Louise Rowley brought home the trio in 24.07 and 51st position.
Over at the scenic Clumber park parkrun another MAC trio of Roy, Chris and Sarah Austin were having steady runs saving themselves for the Robin Hood Half Marathon today, or at least that was Roy’s excuse for his 27.32.
Obsessive parkrun tourist Dennis Holmes added Foro Italico to the MAC parkrun list with a very unimpressive 26.06 followed in by Lisa Walton with a 35.24 finish. Both can claim excessive heat, dehydration and alcohol as mitigation in these rubbish times.
Back to proper athletes, captain Greg Hopkinson ran an impressive 18.01 at Graves park to take the first finisher title whilst better half Megan cruised round in a very steady 27.32 finishing 77th place.
At our 9th different venue Gav Elliott was sole MAC representative at Markeaton parkrun with a steady 24.21 and 92nd place.
Our local Monsal Trail parkrun was another venue with a trio of MAC runners who were led home by young Frank Cartwright in 21.38 followed by David Davidson in 26.56 and Jakki Simmons in 36.12, Club Chair temporarily out of running action due to some cosmetic surgery volunteered as Funnel manager.
At our 11th venue Poolsbrook parkrun, Chris Gillott rolled back the years and sat a new PB with a cracking 20.45 for a 13th place finish!
12th venue of the week was run by Dan Ashcroft at Rothay Park up in the Lake District where he ran a tidy 23.06 for 25th place just to show he can still run the short distances too. At our penultimate 13th venue of Rother Valley Country park, young Will Croft ran a superb 16.59 to finish second and record an exceptional age grading of 81.94%. And finally, Jon Tyson up in Scotland for the Lochness Marathon, had a gentle stroll around Stonehaven parkrun where he took 9th position in 23.56!
