parkrun News Saturday 25 October 2025

Dennis Holmes reports:
A pretty amazing 34 MAC Members participated in one way or another at 11 different parkrun venues on Saturday morning. This was boosted by the fantastic juniors who had another Club Championship event at Ashbourne Recreation Ground parkrun. Family Dumphy-Wraith have a lot to celebrate with both Elspeth and Nancy running superfast times on such a challenging course that would seriously test most seniors. All seven juniors were amazing, with many of them running this distance only on a handful of occasions before.
Fresh from her fell running escapades, Cherry Moger had a great run at Beacon parkrun finishing in a time of 23.07 for 60th place.
At the local Black Rocks parkrun a further 12 MACS were found to be running, walking or volunteering with Ian Pitkin leading them in in a time of 22.09 for 31st. Second MAC home was Dan Ashcroft in 23.11 and 37th place. No fewer than 3 MACS undertook volunteer roles ensuring the over 200 runners and walkers got to enjoy another event.
Dennis Holmes made a short car journey to Nottingham train station then caught 2 trains and a bus to ensure his carbon footprint taking him to Great Denham park near Bedford was sufficient to grab him a tourist award. The pancake flat course and 23.41 was also quite enjoyable.
A quartet of MACS ran at Monsal Trail led home by Sarah Witham in a time of 22.07 which was good enough for 6th lady and 33rd overall. Jon Tyson was second MAC in with a tidy 24.09 for 77th place.
Roy and Sarah Austin made the short journey to Pavillion gardens for their steady runs around the picturesque Buxton Park.
Not so far away at Penistone, family Allaway or at least the younger members of the family, Daniel and Charlotte, were taking on the possibly less scenic old railway line out and back course where both recorded excellent times for age 11-14 runners. Well done both.
Last but nor least, after a few weeks or months? away from parkrunning, Kate Ruffell made a welcome return at Sewerby where she finished as 5th lady amd 44th overall in a time of 24.57 which earns her the MAC highest age grading of the week score of 77.76%
