Dennis Holmes reports:
25 runners and volunteers at 12 venues is an on par turn out for our 5k MAC’s
Steve Gill was solo MAC at Alvaston running an excellent 23.19 for 111th place.
Black Rocks was the monthly pacer event and 4 MAC’s took up the challenge to run a precise time. It looks like we were covering 20, 24, 26 and 28 minutes. Mark Moriarty turned out to be nearest to his mark with a 28.03 finish. Ian Watson was only 4 seconds off his 20 minute target with 20.04 whilst Rob and Beccy Curtis both finished slightly ahead of target time with 25.52 and 23.50 finishes.
Simon Flitter did an excellent job handing out all of those finish tokens.
Dennis Holmes had to turn to a plan B run at The Forest of Dean parkrun when Queenswood was rained off. The lovely forest trail course would be a beautiful run on a dry summers day. Shame it therefore rained throughout making it a challenging run for Dennis who finished in 27.02 for 19th place out of 67 runners.
Lizzie Webster was another sole MAC at Leicester Victoria where she ran a pretty swift 22.48 for 79th place.
Gav Elliott was also a “Billy no mates” at Markeaton park running a 26.25 for 150th position.
Greg Hopkinson was our sole runner at Monsal Trail, strolling around in 23.06 for 20th spot but would have seen the friendly face of Andy Mellor who double volunteered as both RD and a Barcode Scanner.
Jo Lloyd continues to clock up more parkrun venues, this time popping up at Pavilion Gardens where she finished in 27.09 for 95th place.
Malcolm Betts continued his consistent 5k running once more at Rother Valley finishing in 26.24 and 136th position.
Roy and Sarah Austin took on the hill at Vicar Water Country park which is one of the most challenging of the Nottinghamshire parkruns. It was a bit of a steady one by the looks of it with times of 30.58 and 41.42.
Our penultimate runner, also a solo, was Sarah Witham at Wilmslow parkrun, which can get a little wet and muddy, but Sarah certainly didn’t let the weather affect her time with a 23.05 earning her 5th lady and 38th overall with a fantastic 71.77% age grading.
Finally, taking tourist of the week with a trip to the Welsh coast at Landrillo yn Rhos, Lisa Walton ran a solid 28.30 for 182nd place.
Well run all. Thanks to the volunteers who make these events possible.
