Parkrun Report

Parkrun news Saturday 1 March 2025

26 participants at 10 venues is another sizeable turnout for MAC with one or two new names on the scoresheet.

Starting with the regulars at Beeston I am assured by Roy Austin that all 3 runners set new course PB’s so congratulations all around.

At the new MAC local Black Rocks parkrun captain Greg put in a reasonable amount of effort to secure 11th place in 20.05 but Tony Barrable set the MAC weekend high age grading with his fantastic 80.76%. Louise Rowley bagged 4th lady and 25th overall with 22.12 and a 71.55% age grading. Young Stanley Flitter paced the ageing Simon Flitter around in a nice 29.21 and both must be well pleased taking the scalp of Colin Davenport who possibly was only out for a stroll with some friends or that is the excuse that I have heard anyway.

The next noteworthy athletic performance was at Happy Valley parkrun which is a closed event on Cyprus near RAF Akritiri that Luke Beresford managed to get into, and ran a very decent 18.43 for 3rd place and a 73.46% age grading. Also impersonating RAF personnel were Jay Bird and Cherry Moger who also ran decent times and finished in 16th and 28th places respectively. We will have to check VAR but Happy Valley does most likely count as an official parkrun so these 3 miscreants share this weeks tourist award.

Sarah Witham running at Kettering went one better than Luke with a ladies 2nd place finish and a swift 23.59.

Young Oscar Szabo maintains his run of excellent results in South Wales with a 19.27 and 5th place at Llanishen parkrun, Cardiff.

Damon Harrison led home the quartet of MACS at Monsal Trail in 4th position with a time of 19.11 whilst Paul Clark recorded 22.21 for 20th spot. David Davidson and Ann Armistead both ran well as usual and recorded age gradings above 70%

Dennis Holmes was pretty rubbish on the flat course at Northallerton the saving grace of which was that the letter N completed his periodic table challenge which is of no real consequence to any normal person.

Finally Beccy and Rob dropped of at the lovely one lapper of Rother Valley country park where Beccy’s 22.00 earned her the all important 70% plus age grading whilst Robs none too shabby 22.43 earned him a very respectable 67.64%.

Well run all. Normal apologies if I have missed you.
