parkrun round up Saturday 12 July 2025
Just 14 MACS at parkruns this week as the temperatures soured and runners sweated around the 9 different venues.
Young Oscar Bridge had a fantastic run at Alvaston where his time of 19.19 earned him 14th place.
Gav Elliott was out at Ashbourne again whilst Cherry Moger thought that the hills of Bestwood was a good idea. Probably not!
Steve Gill lead home the seniors at Black Rocks closely followed by Andrew Watson and David Howarth.
John Birch, an old MAC member who retired to the beach and still runs a bit, had a good run at Blickling finishing in a time of 25.15!
Roy and Sarah Austin were clearly saving it for the Belper River Relays later on in the day with Roy also having the excuse of his Spartan on Sunday.
Dennis Holmes cared little for his later run at Belper and gave it his all at Holbrooks but “His All” was only 25.23 and 19th place. Lisa Walton had a steady tootle around in 31.44 for 53rd place.
At Monsal Trail, the ever reliable Andy Mellor put in another fine performance with a 20.03 for 9th place and a 75.39% age grading. Paul Clark was not far behind with a pretty rapid 21.30 for 23rd place.
Finally, Sally Owen made the questionable choice to run Whinlatter Forest parkrun up in the lakes on Saturday. Whinlatter is recognised as one of the toughest parkrun’s in the UK with a hill that goes on for ever. Needless to say Billy Cartwright’s 17.35 course record was never going to be troubled on such a warm day as Sally decided to have a sensible trot around in 33.03 for 47th place.
Well run everyone on a very warm weekend
