Parkrun News Saturday 21st September 2024
This weekend saw 20 MAC runners at 13 venues with some new names and lots of great performances to report on. Starting with not so new faces, Lisa Walton both ran and volunteered at Alvaston whilst Andrew Watson focussed on the running and turned in another great performance recording 22.43 for 18th position. Certainly not a new face, John Birch completed Blickling parkrun for the 61st time in 26.19 for 64th position. Much closer to home at Brierley Forest parkrun Matt Govan ran a 23.18 whilst certainly qualifying as both a new and a young MAC face Cherry Moger (pacing her son) ran 31.55 for 134th position. Not a new face, Roy Austin had a great run at Disley parkrun finishing in the speedy time of 23.18 and 27th place together with wife Sarah who is now a fully signed up MAC too!. Normally to be found playing wingman to Roy, Chris Rouse chose instead to complete Epworth Equestrian prior to its soon to happen demise in a steady 29.42. Not that far away in South Yorkshire, at the very twisty and undulating Frickley Country parkrun, Sarah Witham had a great run finishing as first lady in 24.36 and 17th position overall. At the MAC local Monsal Trail parkrun we had great performances from both ends of the age spectrum with young Caspar Reynolds in 5th place and a super quick time of 19.05 giving him an age grading of 71.79% whilst the slightly more “experienced! Simon Brister was second MAC home in 22.54 and an unbelievable age grading of 82.75%! Something that you wont read often but Captain Greg Hopkinson was the last MAC to finish at Monsal in 64th place and a time of 25.31. At Pavilion Gardens, Tom Palfreyman ran a 23.15 for 42nd place finish whilst also in Derbyshire at Poolsbrook Country 2 more new names to this group were Heidi and Vicki Eyers completing the 3 lap course in 29.46 and 29.47 minutes. Moving back to the “experienced/old” parkrunners category, Dennis Holmes was off touristing once more at Portrush parkrun, County Antrim, Northern Ireland where he ran the beach course barefoot in a not too shoddy 25.02 for 61st place. Finally also by the seaside but at Seaford Beach right down South in between Brighton and Eastbourne in Sussex, Rob Curtis turned back the clock a bit and ran a superfast 22.41 for 28th place finishing ahead of Beccy (claiming injury) who still ran a pretty rapid 23.16 and collected 2n lady finisher and 37th position overall.
Well run everybody.
