Storm Bert caused a huge number of parkruns to be cancelled on Saturday meaning that just 9 members got to run at 7 events, 4 of which were outside of mainland Britain.
Becky Curtis-Hall and Rob Curtis may have thought that Belfast Victoria would have earned them this weeks tourist award but Northern Ireland didn’t even qualify for the top 3. They both however took advantage of the super quick course and ran great times of 22.42 and 23.49 respectively.
Down in Cardiff, Wales, Oscar Szabo had another excellent run finishing in 20.08 for 44th place out of 572 finishers.
Our first truly international tourist having travelled to run Kagerzoom parkrun in the Netherlands was David Howarth who ran an impressive 24.18 for 23rd place and a 69% age grading.
Possibly on option C or D, Roy and Sarah Austin made the journey South to Oxford and both had good runs. Roy finished in 24.42 for 66th place whilst Sarah ran a speedy 28.56 to finish 151st.
Also having to look for different options due to weather related cancellations Lisa Tink Walton ran a very muddy Wythenshawe parkrun near Manchester in 36.40 for 317th place. This was her 250th parkrun and 106th location earning her the prized green T shirt.
Probably expecting to take the much prized MAC parkrun tourist award with a trip to Krakow Poland and bagging a “Z” at Zielony Jar parkrun, Sarah Witham had a great run on an extremely challenging twisty and hilly course finishing as 2nd lady and 8th overall in 25.59.
But finally, with a carbon generating trip to the new parkrun at Vingis park in Vilnius, Lithuania, Dennis Holmes took another tourist gold by running and skating around the picturesque snow covered and slightly icy city park route in a time of 25.32 for 33rd position. Vilnius is a lovely city to visit with loads of churches and a very special history. Also an ideal venue if you live to see military aircraft like f-15 and f-35! fighter jets overhead.
