Parkrun Roundup

parkrun News Saturday 28 Feb 2026

25 members at 12 venues is an on par turnout for MAC but this weekend we were joined in the running of this blue ribbon distance event by a couple of the pacier members who generally like it a bit hillier and further than the parkrun 5k.

Uber tourist Dennis Holmes only made it to Armley, Leeds this week where 3 laps on a slightly muddy course was his excuse for the time of 27.10.

Misha and Gav were at Ashbourne again which is also quite muddy this time of year hence both clocking relatively steady times.

Black Rocks has a few puddles but is not generally that unfavourable with Chris Gillott recording a fine time of 22.09 for 11th place. Roy Austin was next in with a time of 25.14 for 40th place and and Lisa Walton followed in her second best time at this venue of 28.20. Bethany Roberts and Sarah Austin made up the quintet of MAC’s running whilst Simon Brister did a fine job of timekeeping.

John Birch continues to clock in consistent times at Blickling despite advancing age and a sweet tooth.

Mark Moriarty makes a strong claim for this weeks tourist award with a visit to Canterbury which may or may not be further away than Tyne Green. The award is his for his 28.20 and 43rd place.

Paul Clark put in another consistent performance at Endcliffe parkrun with a 26.32 for 207th place at this extremely busy parkrun.

Up North at Ford parkrun, Harry Holmes claimed the first of our First Finishers places with a great time of 17.16.

Just about as far East as is possible, Kate Ruffell took on the sand at Great Yarmouth North Beach parkrun which is rated as one of the toughest in the country. This was reflected in Kates finishing time of 30.41 which was still good enough for 4th lady and 24th overall.

Back up North in the Lake District 2 of our more regular fell runners decided to have a go at the 5k event at Keswick with the result that MAC claimed a rare one, two finish. Billy Cartwright ran an amazing time of 14.58 to gain second place with Dan Haworth just 3 seconds ahead in 14.55 to secure First Finisher bragging rights.

Back home at Monsal Trail Ian Watson had another great run finishing in 19.27 for 9th place whilst Damon Harrison was not far behind in 19.35 for 11th. Greg Hopkinson, Carly Wheeler and Karl Webster made up the quintet of MAC runners here all recording creditable times whilst Nick Gant showed his skills at timekeeping.

Not far away, Sarah Witham ran 22.39 at Rother Valley for 83rd place and a tremendous 73.14% age grading.

And finally, family Lloyd were out running at Tyne Green parkrun near Hexham, Newcastle way which is a bit closer than Canterbury,
with Oliver gaining 17th place in a great time of 21.47 whilst Jo ran 26.03 for 60th place but her age grading of 64.36 beats Olivers 59.22 thereby securing the all important family bragging rights for this week.

Great running everyone!
