Parkrun Roundup

MAC parkrun news Saturday 25 January 2025

Another good turn out with 25 MAC’s running or volunteering at 12 different venues.
Gav Elliott had a steady trot out at Ashbourne whilst Andrew Watson made the short journey to Black Rocks where he ran 23.02 for 46th place. Johnny “Two Puds” Birch completed his weekly sojourn around Blickling, whilst Caspar Reynolds put in a challenge for the tourist award with a trip to Chester and a great run of 20.40 for 16th place. Oscar Szabo might make a claim to be a tourist with another run at Cardiff but will have to be content with a fantastic time of 20.19 for 60th place. Laura Bassett plus Roy and Sarah Austin all sought the lovely fast tarmac at Long Eaton parkrun and duly delivered a trio of great times. Monsal Trail was favoured by 7 MAC’s led home by Luke Beresford in a time of 18.00 earning 2nd place. Ben Meakin finished 8th in 20.44 whilst Ayako Yokoyama-Nichols had another great run finishing in 23.21 and 26th overall.
Paul Clark ran Moors Valley once more and recorded a super time of 21.01 to earn a 70.18% age grading. Athlete of the day performance has to be William Croft at Poolsbrook where a 17.12 made him first finisher and earned a fantastic 79.65% age grading!
Nich Gant was off mini touristing at The Cinder Track near Whitby and recorded a creditable 22.12 for 15th place. The penultimate venue of choice this weekend was the new Vicar Water Country Park parkrun in Clipstone, Notinghamshire where Sarah Witham had a steady run around in 25.15 for 81st place just finishing ahead of Jay Bird who ran 25.22 for 83rd. Jay blamed the hill which allegedly extends for over a mile in the middle of the course. Finally, taking the tourist award yet again with a trip to Y Promenad Abermaw in Barmouth Wales, Dennis Holmes and Lisa Walton burned more carbon with a 3 hour drive through the hills and valleys of mid Wales to this quaint but freezing cold seaside resort which would be well worth a visit in summertime for the superfast course flat as a pancake, out and back twice on the promenade.
