Parkrun News Saturday 15 February 2025
22 runners and 1 volunteer at 13 different venues although no-one chose Valentines showing that romance is dead at Matlock AC.
From the top, Louise Rowley had a cracking run at Alvaston with a time of 21.40 earning an age grading of 73.31%. Over at Ashbourne Gav Elliott and Chris Rouse settled for steadier runs possibly not helped by the soft ground usually to be found at Ashbourne. Perhaps Belvoir Castle was the substitute Valentines venue of the weekend where Sarah Witham led home Roy and Sarah Austin in a speedy 24 minutes dead. Black Rocks not unsurprisingly continues to attract MAC parkrunners with 6 members choosing this venue for a run out. Harry Holmes took second spot with a pretty swift 17.15 and a resulting 75.65% age grading. Christine Howards 24.02 also earned her a super 73.37% age grading. Johnny 2 puds shed a few calories at Blickling whilst Cherry Moger had a bit of a stroll around Clumber Park. David Davidson may have had a day out at the races after Cheltenham where his 27.55 finish time also earned him another 70% plus age grading. The second quickest time of the weekend was provided by MAC mens captain Greg at Endcliffe where 18.34 was good enough for 6th place. Simon Brister seems to have been sole volunteer with a spot of barcode scanning up in the lakes at Fell Foot parkrun. Over in the North East, Elizabeth Webster may have been alphabet chasing at Jesmond Dene running a 23.34 for 33rd place. Back home at Monsal Trail, Chairman Andy ran a fantastic 19.38 for 8th place and more importantly the highest age grading of any MAC this week with a whopping 76.32%!! Paul Clarks not too shabby time of 21.29 earned him a 22nd place finish. At the penultimate venue of Peckham Rye in South London, Dennis Holmes just nipped under 24 minutes and took second vet 60 but was denied the tourist award by Les Thurston whose 28.42 at Penrose, Cornwall massively out distanced him whilst earning Les the first vet 75 accolade.
Well run all.
