parkrun summary 1 April 2023

Dennis Holmes reports on MACs at parkrun this weekend.

I’m glad I’m not a betting man as I was confident of yet another MAC parkrunner tourist award this week given I was off to South West London on the Bushy Park Pilgrimage.

With Lisa Walton off to Oxford in search of her “O” and Roy Austin going to Yarborough for his “Y”, where he got a new PB 22.57, well run Roy.

I was confident it was in the bag. Even shortly after completing Bushy, when I noticed Greg & Megan were at Sewerby (Greg won 18.47, Megan 20th/2nd lady 23.24) my geography told me they were at least 40 miles closer to Matlock than me!

Christine Howard’s appearance at Storeys Field (23.27, 138th) caused me a moment until I located it in Cambridgeshire. So I was all set to claim the prize when Les Thurston pops up on Facebook telling me that he was at a wet and windy Penrose in Cornwall taking the V70 in 27.40, well done Les!

Much closer to home Hayley Gill had another flyer at Buxton Pavilion gardens taking 6th place overall and 1st lady naturally in 18.59, whilst Luke Beresford took another 1st position at Bestwood Village parkrun (19.36). Over at Shipley Country park Simon Fisher took a gentle stroll around in 21.18 for 4th place (more effort needed).

Last but not least at MACS local Monsal Trail parkrun, Andy Mellor continues to defy his advancing years setting a new fantastic PB of 19.15 for 6th place with Sarah Witham in 32nd place in a time of 22.36 and Nicky Dick completing our trio with 24.39 for 60th place. Apologies for mistakes and omissions. Well run everyone.
