Dennis Holmes reports
Just the super elite 15 of us this week spread thinly across 12
venues to report upon.
Roy and Sarah Austin made the short trip to Ashbourne for a steady run around the playing fields and through the memorial garden. Roy scored a 63 place with 29.15 whilst Sarah was 113th in 34.18.
Kate Brett stayed local at Black Rocks where she recorded a steady 31.15 for 137th place and a 61.23% age grading.
Our man in Norfolk, John Birch, ,once more at Blickling ran a nice 25.50 for 73rd place.
Our new super tourist burning up the carbon, Jon Tyson was at Bolberry Down, Devon where he ran a super quick 24.18 for 32nd place and a 65.43% age grading. Obviously snatching the tourist award from Dennis Holmes who only managed to get to Herefordshire this week.
Lisa Walton put in a tourist challenge by travelling to Boston in preparation for Sunday’s marathon. Whilst there she ran a quick 5k in 27.31 for 65th place, ideal prep for the 42k next day.
Beccy and Rob were down in Cambridgeshire at Brook Leys parkrun also mini touring but without a marathon to follow. They had a nice sociable run finishing just 1 second and 1 place apart. Sweet!
Our speedy young junior Isabella Wilson popped up this week at East Park parkrun in the West Midlands adding to her impressive tourist streak where she ran 26.15 for a 47th place finish and more importantly a superb 71.49% age grading, our top MAC this week.
Paul Clark was back at Moors Valley parkrun in Dorset for the 24th time so really should be considered a proper carbon burning tourist and would have claimed this weeks award had it not been for JT going that extra mile or so to Devon. Paul ran a fantastic 21.09 for 247th place and a super 70.29% age grading.
Back local at Monsal Trail, just 2 old stalwarts of Matlock AC were to be found pounding the old railway line. Karl Webster finished in 22.40 for 35th position whilst Pete Bush came home in 25.56 and 87th place.
Our penultimate runner this week was Malcolm Betts making his 35th appearance at Poolsbrook where he finished in a nice time of 25.16 for 76th place.
And finally, Dennis Holmes travelled down to Queenswood Country park between Hereford and Leominster to collect his 10th “Q” and underestimated just how steep the incline was that the locals have named “Cruella de hill”. His complete lack of any hill running skill or ability was exposed resulting in a time of 28.11. Some comfort was gained by his 26th place finish out of 121.
