parkrun summary – 18 February 2023

Our weekly parkrun round up from Dennis Holmes (our very own Mr parkrun):

Another fantastic weekend of parkrunning saw Matlock legend, Tony Barrable, complete his first ever parkrun at Poolsbrook, having not raced for 2 years yet running sub 7 minute miles to finish in 14th place in 21.42 with a 79.49% age grading.

Only the race winner who is a mere 40 years Tony’s junior had a better age grading.

Also proving that quality and experience helps in the battle against old age, Karl Webster led home the MAC pack at Monsal Trail, finishing in 14th place in 21.50, with Steve Goodall hot on his heels in 19th, 22.19, then Rob Scriven 23rd, 22.39, Sarah Witham 25th, 22.42, Nicky Dick 53rd 25.16 and Sarah Walton 153rd in 34.49.

At the other end of the age spectrum, our “junior” parkrunners, team Meg and Greg, had a steady plod around Endcliffe, before setting off on part of the round Sheffield route to notch up another 15 or so steady miles.
Inbetweener Luke Beresford now a V40, led home a MAC one, two at Brierley Forest just pipping Simon Fisher by 5 seconds finishing in 18.56. Louise Rowley took the ladies win in 23.10, 22nd place overall.

At Brierley, Matt Govan shunned the podium, with a 4th place finish in 20:45.

Finally, coming to the parkrun nerds who were chasing Wilson index numbers not PB’s, Dennis Holmes and Jay Bird got their 33 at the very scenic Alderley Park parkrun finishing in respectable times of 26.14 & 26.57 whilst Lisa Walton hunted down her WI 9 at Market Bosworth finishing in 32.10 for 128th position.
