Peak Rail 7 – Runner vs Steam

Easter Monday saw our annual Peak Rail 7 – Runner vs Steam.

The race is a 7 mile route from Rowsley South Station to Matlock and back, racing against Cathryn the wonderful Peak Rail heritage steam train.

As is traditional, the weather was miserable. After weeks of dry and sunny weather, the rain came in for the duration of the race, only to disappear and add insult to injury by providing a lovely sunny afternoon. Typical.

Results from the event are shown on our WebScorer page: https://www.webscorer.com/race?raceid=387007

Congratulations to our individual and team winners – a particularly strong showing from Hillsborough and Rivelin RC.

We are grateful to East Midlands Railway for a generous donation that covered our prize fund and prizes for winners, including some less than healthy Easter eggs, and our special MAC-branded ales, from Aldwark Artisan Ales.

Thanks also to Buxton Water, who provided bottled water for all of our runners at the finish.

All of the profits raised from the event are donated to local charities. We raised over £3,900 this year and this takes the total raised and donated to charities from the Peak Rail 7 to £17,000 since the event started.
