A trio of MACs took to the streets of Derby this morning for the Ramathon Half Marathon. The fine weather continued and the sun beamed down on the runners making it a challenging morning. There was a brief break in the heat when it rained around the half way point (depending on how fast you were running). Chris Gillott had a strong run and was the first of the trio home in 1:43:46. After pacing Lisa Tink to a 5k PB a couple of weeks ago, Dennis had been drafted in to repeat the task at the half marathon distance as Lisa chased a PB that has stood for 13yrs. Dennis had prepared for the event by taking hydration seriously and ‘celebrating’ well at the MAC party the night before. Despite not really listening to most of Dennis’ advice and guidance on pace during the race, Lisa did listen when he pulled out the old John Thorpe classic of “Come on Lisa, don’t be sh!t” and managed to be literally dragged down the finishing straight and flung across the line in 2:15:17 for a PB by 2 seconds!! Dennis finished in 2:15:18 and has had an afternoon nanna-nap to recover.
