Sherwood Pines 1/2 Marathon
Sunday 15th March was the date for the Sherwood Pines 10k, 1/2 marathon and 20 mile race.
It was a pleasant but very windy morning, the route sees everyone complete the same first laps with the half marathon runners taking a modified second lap and 20 milers doing 3 in total.
Slightly more elevation than expected at 932ft gain, and every turn felt like the wind shifted into a headwind just to really give a mental test that little more edge!
239 runners completed the 1/2 marathon, winner was a Sam Allen finishing in 1:20:40. Then the first (and only MAC) in the race was myself, Chris Henshaw, donning the MAC vest for the first time this year, finishing in 01:43:28 in 16th place.
Despite no MACs seen, there was still 2 people during the race giving it the “C’MON MATLOCK” which always gives a boost and was a good challenge on my personal training route to London Marathon next month.
Would I do this race again? Yes, purely for the sausage roll after!
