49th Snowdon International Mountain Race 2026
On Saturday 18th July, 4 intrepid MAC runners and a plus one made their way to Llanberis to run the Ras Ryngwladol yr Wyddfa – International Snowdon Race, the race starts from llanberis and runs to the summit along the tourist path, it involves international runners from Italy, England, Wales and Scotland plus Northern Ireland, the record is 1-02 and this record was made by Kenny Stuart in 1978 and still holds to this day !
Represent England was MACs own Danial Haworth in a time of 1-13, 17th O/a, second MAC to finish was the mighty Joe Oldfield who had a belting race finishing in a cracking time of 1-15 and 27th O/a, next runner was Miriam’s partner Keiran ( used to run for MAC and we are working on enticing him back 🙏) he finished in a very strong time of 1-25 and came 67th O/a.
Myself claimed a PB on last years race finsihing in 1-53 and 7th out of 26th in my age and 250 O/a, next came Miriam on her Snowdon debut, ran very strong up to the summit and then flying down the descent , she took a tumble but this did not stop her, she had a strong race which secured a second place in the F40 age category earning Miriam a £30 Pete Bland voucher, Miriam finished in a time of 1-54 and 267 O/a.
Out in the course we had our very own MAC supporter Cherry flying the flag and Luke Beresford cheering us along which was great and really helped on the last mile , Italy won the race in 1-04 !!
Next year is the 50th race and is set to be a cracking weekend , this race is a hard race and the weather was kind yesterday, it would be great for more MACs to enter, the atmosphere is fantastic with the whole of Llanberis coming out to cheer the race on.
Well done everyone, an amazing MAC finish 😎
