Stanage Struggle – 18 September 2022

Stanage Struggle Race

10 MACs ran the race on a sunny Sunday morning, starting off in Hathersage. The race makes its way, approx 6 miles, over undulating terrain towards Stanage Edge. Once on the Edge, we ran about 1.5 miles with beautiful views to our left, before a swift descent off the Edge through the heather, followed by 2 miles of undulating terrain back down into Hathersage.

The race was won by Chet Gillespie from Dark Peak in 40:36. First back for MAC was Luke Berresford (4th) 42:03 followed by Matt Nichols in 44:48. 1st lady was Kate MacFarlane of Carnethy in 49.29. Matt Govan 52:11. Scott Thompson 55:22. Darren Spibey 55:46. Denney Lau 56:43. Mick Fowler 67:48. Jan Forrester (1st FV70) 67:58. Sally Owen 72:13 and Les Thurston 72:44.

The usual high quality cakes and refreshments were on offer at the finish.

There were approx 220 runners….all in all a great way to spend a Sunday morning.
