The Dovedale Dash 2023

Greg Hopkinson reports:

The Dovedale Dash has been running since 1953, which I believe is the same year Mick Moorhouse did his first fell race!!! A historic race starting in the shadow of Thorpe Cloud and taking in just under 5 miles of the finest paths Dovedale has to offer.
After a fast frantic downhill start (see video below) you reach the infamous stepping stones, with most runners choosing to wade straight through what is apparently the coldest river in England (unverified).
Luke Beresford reached the river first, at which point he decided to take an early bath in the refreshing waters.
Dan Haworth and myself followed behind, with 6 other MACs joining the 1200 runners on the day.
Obviously Dan quickly made it to the front, managed to go the wrong way about 5 times, but still won comfortably in just over 27 minutes, well done Dan!!! I managed to hang on to second and got myself a lovely steel tankard!!
Well done to all MACs who battled round in some pretty grim conditions!!
