Bob Foreman reports:
Glossop Rugby Club was the venue for yesterdays Up The Nab Fell Race.
An AS of just over 3 miles with 1,025 feet of ascent which was a FRA Championship race in 2016.
The rain stopped just before the start which was a short uphill stretch of tarmac behind Des Gibbons, the RO’s car, Tour de France style!
Steeply up a field and along Slack Edge before a tussocky drop into a boggy Horse Clough. Up to and around Whitely Nab plantation before retracing our steps through Horse Clough and back up to Slack Edge and a fast descent to the finish.
The race was won by Kieran Hodgson of Helm Hill in 26.18 and the First lady was MAC’s Gemma Cox, 13th o/a in 34.31. I was 7th in 30.46 and 1st M60.
This was one of Des Gibbons many races, all of which are well organised in a fun, friendly and low key way.
