Sunday 3 September saw an octet of MACs tackling the ultimate challenge of not only getting through Matlock’s traffic lights (thou shalt not pass!) but also completing the Wilne 10k.
First back for MAC was Mike Blair in 32nd place overall (33:36) bagging the Derbyshire V45 gold medal in the process.
Also collecting the bling was Jim Thorneycroft in 42:39 and Derbyshire V65 gold medal.
MACs untroubled with the need to rearrange their trophy cabinets included: Andy Mellor, who avoided getting lost on the course (having of course got lost on the way to the car park) in 39:00. Matt Haywood clocked in at 42:52 and Rob Curtis 49:43.
New MAC Mig Kolanowski recorded a respectable 53:16, with Strava splits that suggested enthusiasm might have overpowered pacing in the first few KMs 😊
For the ladies, Atessa Kolanowska returned to racing with her newly upgraded bionic knee in 49:37. Becky Curtis-Hall nursing an injury took it steady for 55:58.
The fairly flat course attracts some nippy runners, with the race won by Joe Wilkinson from Bingley Harriers in 29:51, just three seconds ahead of Charlie Brisley from Newham & Essex Beagles.
