Almost 3 months ago, before wrecking his ankle, Dan Ashcroft took part in an event called the Snickerthon at Chasewater Country Park. Not content with running around the reservoir 8 times in one year, Dan decided that it would be a good idea to return to the reservoir to do it again, if only to become the Strava “Local Legend” for the segment.
This time, the event which is organised by How Hard can it be events was called Yabba Dabba Doo! Each lap started and finished at the visitor centre, heading in an anti-clockwise direction along the dam wall of the reservoir. Over the 3 and a bit miles runners were treated to the occasional rail crossing where the Chasewater Railway Parkhopper service runs. But on this occasion rather than utilising a Class 142 Pacer DMU, a steam engine was running.
Joined again by Lisa Walton, the pair both improved on their June times, with Lisa taking over 14 minutes off her time in the half marathon (by my reckoning that’s over 1 minute per mile quicker). Feeling so good, Lisa ran another lap for good measure.
Unfortunately, there isn’t another event at Chasewater this year, so Dan’s desire to make it 24 laps will have to wait! His next event is on 27 September.
