Parkrun Catchup

parkrun round up Saturday 4th May 2024
17 MAC’s were spread almost across the galaxy as we celebrated Star Wars day on Saturday. Taking the tourist award by travelling just about as far North as is possible and still remaining in the UK was Kate Ruffell who was to be found at Bressay parkrun in the Shetland Isles. This was actually Kates 7th run at Bressay which is probably a pretty unique tourist statistic and as usual Kate ran a super time of 24.29 finishing in 16th position and scoring an age grading of 77.06%. Thinking that he was in line for the tourist award Dennis Holmes set off to run Reading parkrun but due to a late cancellation ended up at Upton Court parkrun in Slough. This is actually a nicer parkrun than it sounds with a view of Windsor castle on each lap. Somewhere in between these 2 extremes of North and South up in the Cumbrian lakes Megan Elliott had a steady trot along the old railway line course at Keswick whilst Luke Beresford added another parkrun to his and MAC’s list of events by running Ford parkrun near Ulverston. Luke also had a steady trot ariund possibly saving himself for something more challenging on the fells on Sunday? Another parkrun event that I do not think that I have come across a MAC member running before is Blaise Castle near Bristol which was only on event number 42 this weekend. Beccy and Rob added this event to our list although it was the second time of running at this event for the pair of social butterflies. Sort of touristing but definitely doing the star wars thing was Roy Austin at Newark parkrun with a steady 24.57 pacing the 25 minutes for his volunteer credit too. At Ashbourne, Brierley Forest, Markeaton and Monsal Trails parkruns the usual list of suspects were to be found all having steady runs with noone else challenging the 70% age grading standard this week. If I have missed or maligned you please comment below and I will correct in the update later.
